New Holdz
As you may have noticed, we have changed some of the routes at the wall and also added some fresh new holds.

About 6 routes were changed on the wall, some made slightly easier, and then 2 (soon to be 3) routes have been added using the new purple and white swirly holds. These are superb new holds and, although these ones are suited to harder routes, we will certainly look to buy more from Holdz in the future as they are far better than the Entreprise ones we're currently using.

We're aware that some of the holds are quite dirty now, and we are planning to have a full change around and clean of the wall and holds in October. It'll be a 2 day event with probably a video night / meal inbetween.

Club Gear
We have recently purchased some club gear that can be used free of charge by any club members. The gear will be stored in a locked box at the Clickimin. The code for the lock will be known only by committee members, who are responsible for maintaining the gear and ensuring that it is not misplaced!

Gear must be signed out and in if it is taken from the Clickimin, but can be used any Tuesday evening at the climbing wall without signing out. Also, you will find chalk balls for sale for £2 in the box. Please leave the money for them in the bag provided in the box.

Gear we have is:

Harness, Belay Device, Screwgates, Slings, 30m Single Rope, Quickdraws, Helmet.

The rope and quickdraws can be used at the Clickimin for leading.

New news system
So, this should make adding news to the site easier. You can add your own news to the site. Please use it for things like club trips, socials and announcements, as well or instead of the forum. It will show the most recent 3 stories only.

Anyone can sign up to add news, but I will have to approve it before it is displayed on the site. I will hopefully add a similar system for the monthly articles too soon.

Winter Trip 2009
The time of year came for the annual Climb Shetland winter trip. We set off on the boat on the 6th of March headed for the mainland. A fine crossing was had by all, especially two members who would later live to regret sampling the house ale in such large quantities. As the party had 2 cars we spilt up with separate objectives for the day, one party comprising of myself, Kelly, Alan and Al set off to buy some gear in Inverness while Pete and Julie headed south on a mission to get some explosives and climb a couple of routes. It was a success on all accounts. The necessary equipment was purchased and a good climb was had.
